Summer Riding Program
“Project Home Stretch” is a summer riding program for advanced riders who are very secure at the trot, the canter and over cavaletti. Riders are matched with young Thoroughbreds that have retired from racing and that are ready for new homes and new careers. Under the supervision of UNH Equine majors, Home Stretch riders will encourage and educate young Thoroughbreds to maximize their chances for adoption. If you are a high school or college student looking to ride and train in a relaxed, flexible, friendly format, this is the summer program for you! The program will run from June 27 to mid August. Riders may attend any number of weeks, and any number of days per week, with discounts for more frequent attendance (see fee table below). Riders may participate in one or two mounted training sessions per day, in addition to extensive grooming, handling, bathing, soundness evaluations and loose schooling.
